Innovation within an industry is rarely stumbled upon; it is pursued and fostered by those willing to follow curiosity and push the envelope. The Society for Experiential Graphic Designers (SEGD) recognized 3M for such efforts on Sat., June 11 at the 2016 SEGD Conference: Experience Seattle. The Arrow Award celebrates an organization’s dedication to providing top-notch products and services, to forging new paths in graphics technology, and to developing sustainable practices and materials. This was the third time 3M has been honored with the award, previously winning in 1998 and 2009.

The Arrow Award comes in the wake of several 3M product and service launches. In recent months, 3M has expanded its Wrap Overlaminate Series 8900 and Wrap Film Series 1080 product lines, and announced its acquisition of Knifeless Tech Systems. The Core, a resource and digital hub for graphic and sign shops, was also introduced in March 2016.

“The Arrow Award represents 3M’s leadership and commitment to innovation, and we are honored once again to be a recipient,” said Cindy Jenkins, 3M marketing manager. “3M is an organization that is forward-thinking, and continues to advance and invent new products with leading-edge technologies that help designers and graphics manufacturers transform spaces.”

In addition to receiving the award, 3M, an SEGD industry partner, was the official sponsor of the 2016 Global Design Awards for the second year in a row. These awards commemorate excellence in Environmental Graphic Design and Experiential Graphic Design with projects that connect the user to the built environment. The Global Design Awards received international submissions across seven different categories including interactive experiences, wayfinding, and public installations, and the winners were decided by a multi-disciplinary set of jurors.
