Chromaline Screen Print Products, an IKONICS Corporation company based in Duluth, Minnesota, recently announced the launch of an altogether new photo emulsion product, engineered to accommodate UV LED technology, which is quickly being adopted throughout the screen printing industry for use in exposing stencils.

The company’s new ChromaLime emulsion is the first emulsion to be designed specifically to optimize both UV LED technology and traditional exposure technology. Mick Orr, 40 year veteran of the screen printing industry and Applications Specialist at Chromaline, expressed enthusiasm about the launch of the new product.

“Our new ChromaLime emulsion is our way of meeting the market where it’s at and where it’s going. These new UV LED units are increasingly popular—they just make sense. LEDs are affordable, long-lasting, predictable, and it’s only a matter of time before screen printers everywhere consider using them. That’s why we knew it was important for us to manufacture a product that could accommodate this new, developing technology as well as the traditional equipment that everyone has been using for years.”

Chromaline Labs®, the company’s Research and Development institute, has formally certified ChromaLime as the first emulsion to be designed specifically to optimize both UV LED technology and traditional exposure technology. Troy Bergstedt, Director of Chemical Research at Chromaline, said the company plans to certify other stencil products. ChromaLime is just the first.

“We recognize that the adoption of LED technology in the marketplace will be an ongoing thing—not an overnight phenomenon—but we’re being intentional about staying ahead of the curve on this.”
