Ricoma
Ricoma
Ricoma’s TexPro uses Epson Advanced MicroPiezo AMC printhead technology and supports imaging resolutions up to 2880 dpi. Ricoma says the TexPro can print a 10 x 12-in. (254 x 205-mm) design in approximately one minute. The print-er offers a maximum print area of 17 x 25 in. (432 x 635 mm) and uses water-based pigmented inks (CMYKLcLmLkLLk + Photo Black or Matte Black) formulated to withstand repeated washing on white and light colored ap-parel made of 100% cotton and 50/50 blends. It features manual platen-height adjustment up to 4.8 in. (122 mm), single and double print modes, automatic head alignment and cleaning, and USB (1.1/2.0) and CompactFlash interfaces.
Sanwave
The SWI-A2 from Sanwave Int’l can be used to print on apparel or rigid media. It supports eight-color bi-directional printing (CMYK + 4 x White or 2 x CMYK) with water-based inks for garments or an eco-solvent formulation for rigid substrates. The printer images at resolutions up to 2880 dpi (optimized, via Resolution Performance Management technology) in an area as large as 17 x 31 in. (432 x 787 mm) and on media as thick as 5 in. (127 mm) by adjusting bed height. A removable platen jig enables the printer to decorate rigid materials. The SWI-A2 uses Iprint RIP software, compatible with Windows 98/2000/Me/XP/XP 64-bit and Mac OS X 10.2.4 or later. It also features an automatic cleaning cycle to prevent printhead clogging.
Sawgrass Technologies
Sawgrass’s DirectAdvantage now offers users the choice of operating as a 2 x CMYK or CMYK + 4 x White system. Those who select the white option will be visited by a Sawgrass representative who will complete the conversion on site and provide training. The printer supports a maximum print area of 15 x 18 in. (381 x 457 mm), prints at resolutions up to 720 dpi onto 100% cotton and blends, and features automatic platen-height adjustment. DirectAdvantage incorporates Sawgrass’s NaturaLink direct-to-cotton ink, an aqueous dye and pigment ink technology formulated to create a chemical cross-link with cotton molecules for enhanced brightness and durability. The printer’s Power Driver software allows for printing from CorelDRAW, Adobe Photoshop, and other graphics applications. It’s compatible with Windows 2000 and XP. Also available is DirectAdvantage RIP, which is free with the purchase of white ink. It’s designed to extend color management and control of color vibrancy and saturation.
Shima Seiki
Shima Seki’s SIP-100F and SIP-160F (pictured) are flatbed inkjet printers that use an eight-color reactive-dye inkset (light and dark CMYK) and support a maximum imaging resolution of 300 x 600 dpi. The two models share most features. Both offer a CCD camera for accurate material placement, touch-sensitive control panels, maximum printhead speed of 7.5 ft/sec (0.7 m/sec), head-height range of 0.12-2.1 in. (3-53 mm), and PC system with 40-GB hard drive, full-color LCD display, layout software and more. SIP-100F has 512 MB of RAM, while the SIP-160F has 1 GB. SIP-100F and SIP-160F support maximum image areas of 63 x 39.4 in. (1600 x 1000 mm) and 87 x 63 in. (2200 x 1600 mm), respectively. Both models also are designed to work with Shima Seiki’s apparel-decoration peripherals, such as the SUM 100 pretreatment station, SDM 100 drying station, and SSM 100 steam boiler.
U.S. Screen Print & Inkjet Technology
U.S. Screen’s T-Jet Blazer Express (pictured) is an eight-color (CMYK + 4 x White or RGBO for light garments only) system engineered to print white ink in one pass. Fast T-Jet Blazer Pro supports a maximum image size of 16 x 30 in. (406 x 762 mm) and imaging resolutions up to 2880 x 1440 dpi. U.S. Screen says the unit can images on white shirts in approximately one minute and 20 seconds and dark shirts in less than minutes. It uses a bulk-ink and bulk-cleaning system, and up to four devices can be connected to a computer with the use of U.S. Screen’s Multi-Queue upgrade. The Fast T-Jet Blazer Pro (pictured) is an eight-color (CMYK + 4 x White) system engineered to print three standard or two oversized prints at once and is designed to print white ink in one pass. Fast T-Jet Blazer Pro supports a maximum image size of 16 x 47 in. (406 x 1194 mm) and imaging resolutions up to 2880 x 1440 dpi. U.S. Screen says the system can images on white shirts in less than a minute and dark shirts in less than two minutes. It uses a bulk-ink and bulk-cleaning system and features a user interface that gives access to a variety of printer functions. U.S. Screen’s Multi-Queue upgrade allows for up to four Fast T-Jet Blazer Pro printers to be connected to one computer.
