Pad Print Machinery of Vermont promises one-color print speeds up to 3900 cycles/hr with its new Elektra XE press. The all-mechanical, servo-motor-driven press is available in single- and two-color models. It dual cam drive runs the pad shuttle and ink cups separately, allowing all pad and cup operations—from downstroke speed to pickup and drop-off pauses—to be changed. Operator instructions are sent via a touchscreen PLC, thereby eliminating the need for mechanical adjustments to change the pad stroke. Elektra XE’s one-color, 3.5-in. (90-mm) cup allows for imaging areas up to 3 in. (76 mm) in diameter. For a two-color image, or two-up printing, the 2.4-in. (60-mm) cup accommodates imaging areas up to 2 in. (51 mm) in diameter.
