Mikkelsen Graphic Engineering and Esko say they’ve significantly improved the speed and overall quality of the i-XE10 digital finishing system for short runs of specialty graphics. The machine is based on the technology and architecture of the Esko-Kongsberg line of cutting and creasing tables. The companies attribute the enhancements to faster, lighter mechanicals components, and new internal programming with i-cut vision registration. The i-XE10 was developed for kiss-cutting and through-cutting of vinyl films and printed decals. It now can accommodate packaging materials and semi-flexible substrates, such as polycarbonates, foam boards, and more. The system offers a work area of 31.5 x 43.3 in. (800 x 100 mm) and accepts materials as large as 35.4 x 47.2 in. (900 x 1200 mm) and roll-fed media up to 35.4 in wide. Other new features include rack-and-pinion X/Y drive, servo system, and custom tooling set.
