Earlier this year at its Connect users’ conference, EFI launched two new UV-LED roll-to-roll printers with print speeds up to 4896 sq ft/hr. The Vutek 5r (196-in.) and Vutek 3r (138-in.) models both offer resolutions up to 1200 dpi through the company’s UltraDrop technology with 7-pL printheads and multi-drop addressability for smoothness in shadows, gradients, and transitions. A color distribution algorithm reportedly extends ink usage to an average of 1600 sq ft/L of ink.

Inline roll-to-sheet cutting, slitting, and sheet collection is available to help automate job handling. Other options include automated double-sided backlit and blockout printing; a mobile app for remote printer monitoring; multilayer white printing; and additional light colors for extended gamut imaging.
