Members of the International Color Consortium, Reston, VA, gathered recently in Tokyo, Japan for a meeting that included the election of new officers. The group appointed William Li, color systems engineer at Kodak Graphic Communications Group, as chairman and Jack Holm, principal color scientist for HP’s Office of Strategy & Technology, as vice chairman. Phil Green of the London College of Communication will continue to serve as technical secretary, and William Smythe of NPES will continue as administrative secretary.

The ICC also appointed a new steering committee that comprises representatives from the five founding members of the ICC: Agfa, Apple Computer, Adobe Systems, Eastman Kodak, and Sun Microsystems. Eleven regular members also are part of the committee. They include Canon Development Americas, Color Savvy Systems, Fuji Photo Film, GretagMacbeth, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen, Hewlett Packard, Lexmark Int’l CPD, Onyx Graphics, Quebecor World, X-Rite, and Xerox.

ICC’s 67 member companies worldwide elect the steering committee to represent the range of industries that ICC serves, from graphic arts and photography to its support of the motion-picture industry transition to digital. While in Japan, ICC and its host, Fuji Photo Film, held the first Japan-ICC Experts session on color management. The event drew technical experts from Japanese, European, and US corporations. ICC also began development of guidelines for implementation and use of ICC profiles with the new Microsoft Windows Color System.
