IdX Corporation, the global solution provider for consumer environment design, manufacturing, rollout and installation, hosted about 50 area high school students at its Jeffersonville facility in early November, as the company opened its doors to mark Manufacturing Day.

Manufacturing Day is a nationwide celebration meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. Although Manufacturing Day officially took place on October 5, many companies like idX work with the community and local schools to schedule a date that works best for them.

Manufacturing Day is a nationwide celebration meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. Although Manufacturing Day officially took place on October 5, many companies like idX work with the community and local schools to schedule a date that works best for them.

For idX, the student visits provided an opportunity to showcase the important work the company does on a daily basis and to educate students on how integral manufacturing is to the local, national and global economy.

Students from two local high schools–New Washington High School and South Central High School–visited the facility. "The students asked great questions," said General Manager Chad Wallen. "They definitely kept us on our toes."

Managers and supervisors joined teachers and students on the tours and described the process idX goes through to bring a store fixture from concept to reality. Finished fixtures were on display in the conference room, where Wallen shared a presentation about idX and its capabilities.

"Everyone here looks forward to hosting students for Manufacturing Day each year," Wallen said. "It allows all of us to take a step back and share the pride we feel in the great products we manufacture, and also to encourage our next generation of manufacturers."
