Vertus says its Fluid Mask 3 image-masking software is the professionals’ choice for rapid, powerful, and intuitive masking and high-quality image blending. New features include a more effective edge-detection system, improved Smart Blending capability, and a slider that allows users to seamlessly switch between Smart Blending and standard feather blending functions. Vertus also says that Fluid Mask 3 uses complex edge and special hair-blending algorithms to automatically cut out tricky edges and difficult hair. Users also can employ the software’s localized edge-blending functions to handle colored foregrounds and backgrounds. Fluid Mask 3 is currently available for Windows XP and Vista and Intel-based Macs and Mac Power PCs running OS X 10.3.9 or higher. The software will continue to function as a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop CS2, CS3, and Elements.
