MacDermid ColorSpan says its 9840UV flatbed inkjet printer is the company’s fastest and most productive UV unit to date. The 9840UV uses SolaChrome UV-curable, pigmented inks (CMYK) and can print on rigid sheets or flexible roll stock up to 98 in. (2489 mm) wide and 2.75 in. (70 mm) thick. Sixteen Micro-Quad piezoelectric printheads deliver true 600-dpi resolution at print speeds as high as 811 sq ft/hr (75.4 sq m/hr). The printer is equipped with a belt-driven media-feed system featuring 15 vacuum zones designed to ensure accurate and consistent feeding of media through the printer, regardless of media size, placement, or quantity. Two roller tables measuring 36 x 101 in. (914 x 2565 mm) are attached to the front and rear of the printer and accommodate sheets up to 80 x 98 in. (2032 x 2489 mm). Operators can remove the tables to accommodate an optional roll-fed media supply and take-up system for printing roll-to-roll flexible media. A pneumatically operated media-alignment bar raises and lowers for assisted sheet loading parallel to the print direction. Pneumatically controlled input and output media rollers hold warped media flat throughout the print zone. The 9840UV’s Multi-Sheet N-Up feature allows six boards to be placed across the belt at one time. Adjustable media-alignment pins ensure that each set of boards is placed in the same location.
