MacDermid Autotype, Oxon, UK, announced it won the British Safety Council International Award for the third consecutive year. MacDermid received the award for its safety record in 2006, during which it achieved an accident-incident rate that was 20% lower than the industry standard. This is the tenth time MacDermid Autotype’s safety record has earned the company a BSC award.
MacDermid Autotype presented a comprehensive safety plan for 2006 with evidence of the completion of identified activities and showed areas of continuous improvement in safety during the year. The company also demonstrated an ongoing commitment to safety training. Other requirements for the award included a comprehensive safety-policy statement applicable to all site activities, proof that safety responsibilities are recognized at board level, adequate and appropriate quality of risk assessments for activities on site, and evidence of staff being appropriately trained in safety and regulatory issues.
“We are delighted to win the award for a record tenth time,” says Peter Levinsohn, president of MacDermid Autotype. “It is a testament to the commitment of our employees to health and safety at all of our sites across the world. The targets that we have set this year are even more demanding.
