M&R has launched a new quartz flash curing unit, the Red Chili DX. The freestanding system can be operated directly from compatible M&R presses, including the Challenger III, Gauntlet III, and Stryker. Users can control flash duration, power level, temperature sensor, and programmed individual multifunction job settings directly from the press.

The unit uses medium-wave sealed tungsten filament quartz lamps with adjustable intensity. The lamps, which are divided into three flashing zones, feature instant-on technology, reverting to standby status when the press is idle for energy conservation. Each zone can be operated independently or in any combination. Flash cure duration can be controlled by the unit’s digital timer or through the company’s InkSense sensor, designed to automatically shut off the unit when the substrate reaches a preset temperature.

Additional features include an adjustable sensor switch that can be positioned on either side of the unit to activate it when a platen approaches; a communication socket compatible with an optional cable through which the unit can be connected to the press or an optional foot pedal; and a height-adjustable floor stand.
