Vastex Int’l, Inc. says its new DiGiT instant numbering system can convert any rear-clamp manual screen-printing press with two to ten stations into a high-performance, yet economical, athletic numbering press in 20 sec. The system uses two standard-size screens, each with five numbers, and each screen is clamped into one of two sliding rail assemblies secured by the press’s rear screen clamps.

Both sliding rail assemblies are equipped with a roller bearing with detents and a yellow target arrow, which allows the user to slide the screen left or right and push down to lock the desired number into place, ready to print. The DiGiT V2NS-8 has two stations and accommodates a pair of 23 x 31-in. (584 x 787-mm) screens containing both 6- and 4-in. (152- and 102-mm) numbers, or a pair of 23 x 28-in. (584 x 711-mm) screens containing 8-in. (203-mm) numbers. An additional set of rail assemblies can be added to four-, eight-, and ten-station presses to print number outlines in a second color. Vastex says one operator can print up to 60 two-digit shirts/hr in one color, or up to 40 shirts/hr in two colors. Two operators can print up to 120, two-digit shirts/hr in one color or up to 60 shirts/hr in two colors.
The sliding screens also can be used to print other graphics, including team names, sponsor names, and chest images, while press stations not being used for variable printing can be used with regular screen in standard operation or as loading/unloading stations.
