Themed "Peak Performance – Pioneering Pathways to Breakthrough Success," the PRIMIR 2016 Summer Meeting will be packed with data and content from three new PRIMIR studies.
"Coatings Market in North America by Applications and Chemistry," presented by Kevin Karstedt, Karstedt Partners, will showcase why coatings continue to be a major topic of exploration, innovative use and competitive advantage within the North American marketplace sectors of commercial print, labels and packaging. This session will reveal breaking research on market size, coatings by type, and chemistries (UV/EB/LED, water, and solvent) – which are all essential factors in creating synergistic products to maximize value to the end-users.
Another timely new PRIMIR study presentation, "North American Food Packaging Compliance: Impact on the Printing Industry," will feature findings from LPC by Jennifer Dochstader and David Walsh. Migration of chemicals that affect food, or its consumer, which have long been a concern in the food packaging industry, are emerging more significantly with awareness and action by brands, regulators and consumers bringing the high profile issue to the forefront. Printers and converters, as well as ink, coating, adhesive and substrates suppliers, and all other firms in the value chain require a solid understanding of food packaging regulations and trends, and their impact on the respective "good manufacturing practices" required within the printing and packaging industries. This North American research provides a historical overview of ‘critical risks’ within the primary food packaging segments, as well as recent occurrences, trends and packaging migration prescriptions anticipated through 2020 by the most influential governmental regulatory bodies and global brands.

"Digital Printing Technology’s Influence on the U.S. In-Plant Printing Market," a third new major PRIMIR study release to be presented by Holly Muscolino of IDC and Howie Fenton of IMG, will reveal how the growth in digital printing technology has had a big impact on the opportunities now available for corporations, brand owners, and manufacturers to quickly and inexpensively produce printed materials in-house. The session will reveal how in-plants purchase their printing and finishing equipment, types of products produced, installed base, and provide a 3-5 year forecast of the market with the most likely verticals for growth and their output capabilities, key products, and the tipping point or rationale behind bringing these services and capabilities in-house. This "not to miss" session will provide insights into market opportunities for traditional manufacturers of equipment and supplies, and how to be positioned competitively for the in-plant market’s equipment and supplies decision processes.
As the print value chain looks to exploit and leverage rapid change in the industry, also slated for the PRIMIR program is a highly informative printer panel featuring the "great debate" on how the U.S. commercial print industry will continue to grapple with a rapidly changing environment, and the outside forces that dampen the demand for print. Just released, "The Future of Print in the U.S." study, by The Economist Intelligence Unit—which has the entire industry buzzing—will serve as the foundation for this lively moderated discussion. Recognizing current impacts, which include changing consumer preferences and the direction of both the U.S. economy and print-related industries (technology, advertising, publishing, and packaging), is critical. On the upside, examining the future landscape through the lens of these drivers reveals new business opportunities driven by several significant trends, including: evolution of the consumer experience; rise of data; importance of mass personalization and product differentiation; and, role of social media in content generation and consumption. Here lie new opportunities for progressive print industry pioneers to create.
PRIMIR meetings are conducted in a dynamic interactive forum with industry managers and experts from across the graphic communications industry. A signature component of every PRIMIR meeting is the highly rated program time for members to take part in sessions to weigh in on, and confer about, current and future PRIMIR research studies. In addition to ample networking and social events, the meeting will include roundtable discussions to formulate objectives for the RFPs of new 2017 research studies, plus an "Applications in Action" tour of a local printing establishment.
