The Center for Technology and Research at Printing Industries of America (PIA) has introduced a new service for member companies seeking to capitalize on the benefits of advanced soft proofing.

The service is provided by Remote Director LLC, a leader in soft proofing software, and is hosted by PIA. By using the service, members can create and share proofs, manage color, and let clients and staff collaborate and approve proofs online. The technology removes the delays of delivery in the proofing process and can reduce errors in handling multiple proofs—all while adding value to client relationships.

Dr. Mark Bohan, vice president of technology and research at PIA, explained the importance of the partnership to members. “We have been educating the industry for well over a decade about the benefits of soft proofing in a modern production workflow,” he said. “Members now have a risk-free way to gauge the benefits that can be realized from color-accurate soft proofing.”

Member companies that sign up get access to a project folder that they can use to add files, invite clients and staff, and use the robust capabilities of the Remote Director, including annotation and approvals of color-accurate soft proofs.

“We are happy to be working with PIA to offer their members a real working solution for color-accurate monitor proofing that they can share internally and with their clients. Members who sign up will get the opportunity to be hands on with the latest technology and evaluate how it will work for them,” said Dan Caldwell, president, Remote Director.
