Roland has launched a new version of its Rolandprintstudio RIP software, now compatible with the Mac OS X operating system. The platform features 64-bit speeds and the Adobe PDF Print Engine for more efficient workflow: Users can now RIP, print, and cut on two devices at once.

The user interface features unlimited hot folders for increased automation, as well as an image bar for frequently used artwork. The software includes a nesting facility designed to help minimize media waste, and its costing function automatically calculates job costs. In addition, a spooler function allows multiple users to submit to the print queue and remembers historical job settings for future reprints.

Rolandprintstudio includes standard color libraries such as RAL, HKS, and Pantone; users also have the ability to create custom ICC profiles. A tiling function is designed to simplify the printing of large graphics, tiles, and vehicle wraps. A grommet tool is also included.
