Roland has unveiled the SolJet EJ-640, a 64-in. eco-solvent inkjet printer designed for high-volume production. The machine features dual staggered printheads, a newly developed feed adjuster and media take-up system, and an integrated tri-heater system.

The accompanying EJ inks are available in 1-L cartridges in 4 or 7 colors (CMYKcmk); with a mirrored CMYK configuration, the EJ-640 prints up to 1098 sq ft/hr. The printer’s industrial design features a rigid shaft for media rolls and a reinforced rail and frame structure for improved precision at high speeds. It also features a heater and blower designed to prevent ink bleeding during take-up.

The EJ-640 can print unattended with Roland OnSupport remote monitoring, and an ink switching system pulls from a backup cartridge when the primary one runs out. Users also receive Roland’s VersaWorks Dual RIP, which processes both PDF and PostScript files, including files with transparencies.
