HP Scitex expanded its family of large-format imaging solutions with the addition of the XP2300 Printer, a 3.2-m (10.5-ft) UV roll-to-roll UV inikjet printer designed specifically for the outdoor-signage market. The four-color printer is intended for billboards, building wraps, and other high-volume applications. It features ink consumption of 180 sq m/print out of a liter of ink at speeds up to 2508 sq ft/hr (233 sq m/hr) at 360 dpi. The XP2300 is equipped with 16 piezo printheads, each with 256 nozzles, for imaging onto uncoated PVC, self-adhesive vinyl, mesh, woven polyethylene, and other substrates commonly used in outdoor signage.  Other features include an intergrated on-core collector that allows users to take off printed output while the press is running, an integrated automatic elevator that adjusts the height of printheads to ensure a constant distance between media and heads, and a multi-roll printing kit. The XP2300 also is equipped with a standard mesh kit that allows the system to print on those materials for building wraps, a shutters-control kit for controlling gloss level, a head-carriage-safety sensor, and more. The XP2300 uses GrandRip+ (Caldera) or SoftRIP (Wasatch) and accepts common file formats.
