Big companies are expecting big sales this year, according to the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association’s (SGIA) Financial Outlook survey. Of the respondents who predicated 15-29% growth, those in the categories of $1 million to $4.9 million and $10 million or more in sales had the largest representation.

When asked to describe the areas that will fuel the growth, 20.8% projected digital imaging alone (32.4% in 2006), 19.4% projected a combination of screen and digital (24.2% in 2006), and 16.8% projected screen alone (16.8% in 2006). Respondents also described percentage of company sales in 2006 in terms of imaging technologies: 34% said screen printing accounted for 76-100% of sales; 40% said digital printing accounted for 1-25% of sales; 85% said pad printing accounted for 1-25% of sales; 60% said embroidery accounted for 1-25% of sales; and 60% said other types of printed products accounted for 1-25% of sales.

Data from the survey were compiled from the 713 responses to SGIA’s Financial Outlook survey, conducted Jan-Feb, 2007. Of the participants’ involvement with imaging, 53% said they focused on digital printing, 41% on screen-printed graphics, 32.1% on screen-printed textiles, 19.2% on embroidery, and 9% on pad printing.
