FUJIFILM Dimatix recently announced that its new SAMBA inkjet technology breaks records for nozzle density, drop size, jetting speed, and scalability while achieving stability, uniformity, and maintainability. The company explains that Samba matrix printhead modules can be configured end-to-end in Samba Print Bars to achieve high-quality, high-speed, single-pass jetting at 1200 dpi for full color, four- and eight-up press forms and beyond. Samba is a piezo, drop-on-demand inkjet technology that uses Dimatix’s MEMS fabrication methods, VersaDrop multipulsing-jetting capability, meniscus replenishment, and ink recirculation. According to Fujifilm Dimatix, the first implementation of Samba is in a parallelogram-shaped printhead on a chip that measures 1.8 in. (45 mm) deep, packs 2048 jets/module at 1200-dpi spacing, and is capable of pulsing fluids at up to 100,000 cycles/sec.
