Nur expects its Expedio 5000 Revolution to dramatically change the economics of the digital billboard-printing industry with its production speed and ink coverage of up to four times that of most solvent-based printers. The Expedio 5000 Revolution is billed as a high-volume, superwide-format (16.6-ft, 5.1-m) UV inkjet printer that delivers production speeds of 3200 sq ft/hr (300 sq m/hr) and produces four times the ink coverage of most solvent-based printers. The printer has two operation modes. Nur says the Expoedio Revolution operates at twice the speed of the Expedio 5000 in Billboard mode and produces approximately twice the ink coverage (1950 sq ft/l, 181 sq m/l). Suitable substrates for the Revolution include uncoated PVC, synthetic paper, polyethylene, and mesh. The printer can accommodate multiple rolls of media simultaneously. Other features include an on-core collector, integrated output collector for roll-to-roll printing, shutter-control mechanism, integral mesh mechanism, and an optional double-sided-printing mechanism for backlit and block-out applications.
