Roland DGA says its new VersaArt RS series of wide-format inkjet printers are the perfect production tools for signs, P-O-P/P-O-S materials, banners, posters, vehicle graphics and wraps, and soft signage and fabric applications. The four-color, eco-solvent inkjet printers combine the latest technologies from Roland’s SOLJET PRO III and VersaCAMM printers. VersaART printers, offered in 64- and 54-in. (1626- and 1372-mm) models, are equipped with Intelligent Pass Control technology, a three-dimensional system combined with optimized mask patterns designed to control the ink firing at the edge of each pass and deliver unprecedented imaging performance in all resolutions. The RS-640 (64-in. model) prints at 136.7 sq ft/hr (12.7 sq m/hr) in standard print mode and 230 sq ft/hr (21.4 sq m/hr) in billboard mode, and the RS-540 (54-in. model) prints up to 131.3 sq ft/hr (12.2 sq m/hr) in standard print mode and 221.7 sq ft/hr (20.6 sq m/hr) in billboard mode. VersaArt printers use VersaWorks 3.0 RIP software. It allows users to manage up to four Roland inkjet devices simultaneously and offers support for Roland’s GX series cutters. Its PerfCut function facilitates production of perforated cut lines. VersaWorks also features the Roland Color System for spot-color matching, the Max Impact Preset for richer color contrast, variable-data printing, embedded ICC profile support, ink-level adjustment tools, software proofing capabilities, and advanced cropping, tiling, and nesting options. The software runs on Windows 2000/XP and Vista. VersaArt printers use ECO-SOL MAX inks (CMYK), which offer up to three years outdoor durability without lamination. The printers also are equipped with a media-handling system, and an optional take-up system is available.
