At the Long Beach Imprinted Sportswear Show in January, Epson unveiled two wide-format inkjet printers aimed specifically at producing high-quality film positives for traditional screen printing.

The P800SP is a 17-in., borderless desktop printer using Epson’s MicroPiezo AMC printhead technology and the new UltraChrome HD 8-color pigmented ink set with resolutions up to 2880 x 1440 dpi.

The P800SP is a 17-in., borderless desktop printer using Epson’s MicroPiezo AMC printhead technology and the new UltraChrome HD 8-color pigmented ink set with resolutions up to 2880 x 1440 dpi.

The T3270, a standing unit adapted from a CAD printer, offers 24-in.-wide output and uses UltraChrome XD 5-color pigmented inks.

Both units are bundled with AccuRIP Black Pearl SE software and Epson’s Screen Positive Film, products designed specifically for screen positives, though each unit allows users to also print proofs and production graphics with the same machines. According to Epson, the SureColor SP series models can print halftones up to 65 lines/in. with high UV opacity and a dMax (black density) of up to 4.0.
