High-speed printing was the focus when Polymeric Imaging, Inc. and Eastech designed the Poly-Tech series of wide-format flatbed/roll-fed UV inkjets. The 720S is available in light- and industrial-duty units. The light-duty 720S comes in two models: the UV 8720-4S and UV 8720S. Both accommodate media up to 87 in. (2210 mm) wide, support a maximum print width of 82 in. (2083 mm), and come with feed and take-off tables and roll-to-roll feed and rewind units. Any third-party RIP can be used. Options for both include a PC system with monitor, ColorGate color-management software, ICC profiling, and GretagMacbeth Eye One densitometer software. The UV 8720-4S is a four-color unit (CMYK) that uses Spectra 128 printheads and supports imaging resolutions up to 400 x 800 dpi and print speeds up to 263 sq ft/hr (24.5 sq m/hr). The 8720S is a six-color unit (CMYK + choice of Lc, Lm, one or two whites, or overprint clear) that uses Spectra 256 printheads, supports imaging resolutions up to 360 x 720 dpi and print speeds up to 689 sq ft/hr (64 sq m/hr). The Industrial-duty version comes in two models: UV 6440S and UV 8740S. Both use Spectra 256 printheads, offer a six-color inkset (same as the 8720S), support imaging resolutions up to 360 x 720 dpi, and come with a PC system and monitor, ColorGate and Eye One software, ICC profiling, and Industrial Power Tables for feed and take-off. Any third-party RIP can be used. The UV 6440S accommodates media up to 64 in. (1626 mm), a 59-in. (1499-mm) maximum imaging width, and print speeds up to 635 sq ft/hr (59 sq m/hr). The UV 8740S accepts media up to 87 in. (2210 mm) wide, offers a 62-in. (1575-mm) maximum print width, and can print up to 689 sq ft/hr (64 sq m/hr).
