Alcan Composites USA, Inc., Mooresville, NC, announced the opening of its consolidation center in June in Glasgow, KY. The 65,000-sq-ft building is equipped with six truck bays and is situated on its own 1.5-acre plot near the company’s Glasgow manufacturing facility.
“Alcan Composites is committed to maintaining its long-standing leadership role in the graphic display industry,” says W. Jay Wynne, vice president, sales and marketing, Alcan Composites USA. “This enhanced service model emphasizes our commitment to making it easier for distributors to order our products which, in turn, will help them better meet the needs of end-users—all without additional fares. The costs of opening the consolidation center will be offset by the efficiencies gained through improved truckload utilization.”
Distributor orders within the same geographic region will be combined at the Alcan Composites Consolidation Center for shipment on the same truck, allowing individual distributors to place product orders for only five skids of material (or one-third of the truck) instead of full truckloads. Individual orders may include a mix of the company’s popular products to fill five skids. The center will stock 56 quick-ship items, including standard-sized graphic display boards in Fome-Cor, Sintra, Gator, e-panel, and Dibond lines.
Alcan Composites says that coinciding with the opening of the consolidation center, the company has determined that customer needs no longer are being served by the production of its GatorLite and StructaBoard lines.
