Defoamer for Water-Based Inks

955 Defoamer, from ADM Tronics, is an aqueous defoamer designed for use with water-based inks, coatings, and other liquids. The product reportedly is effective both as a prevention aid and a foam knock-down additive. It can be used as a last-in ingredient to prevent foam from forming. ADM says minimum quantities of 955 allow the product to work efficiently, with typical addition levels ranging form 0.25-1.5%. The defoamer lasts for the life of the liquid product when thoroughly blended in with a low-shear mixing apparatus. Upon addition of the product, the foam reportedly begins to dissipate immediately and the product keeps working to prevent the foam from regenerating.
