Digital Textile-Printing System

Reggiani Macchine S.p.A. recently approved the use of DuPont Digital Printing’s Artistri P2100 series of pigment inks with the DReAM digital textile printing system. DReAM is a roll-to-roll industrial inkjet printer that can be used to decorate woven, non-woven, and knitted fabrics. The printer is equipped with piezo drop-on-demand printheads (seven printheads for each process color) that are height adjustable, an online drying unit, and an entry system for feeding fabrics. Other features include ink replenishment during printing, a continuous, integrated washing system designed to keep the blanket clean, print widths of 63 and 87 in. (1600 and 2200 mm), true 600-dpi resolution, and print speeds of 1615 sq ft/hr (150 sq m/hr) and 2045 sq ft/hr (190 sq m/hr), in high-quality mode. DuPont says its Artistri pigmented inks yield full production-quality crockfastness upon drying and excellent washfastness after post-heating in an oven or calendaring. The inks require no fabric pretreatment and reportedly provide high reliability in continuous operation.
