Direct-To-Fabric Printer

If you’re looking to turn the tide in signage and graphics, Splash of Color may have what you need in its new HeatWave DFP-104 direct-to-fabric printer. The 104-in. (2642-mm) printer is based on Roland’s HeatWave sublimation technology and can print directly onto polyester fabrics and other substrates for applications such as flags, banners, soft signage, and fabric panels for trade-show exhibits. Splash of Color says some of the features of the HeatWave DFP solution include precicion media-handling components, an advanced on-board sublimation unit, six advanced piezo printheads, Roland’s Precision Firing Pattern, and print speeds up to 337 sq ft/hr (31.3 sq m/hr). Two stepping motors automatically fine tune the media-feeding process. Once printed, the media passes through a temperature-controlled, heated calendar system equipped with an infrared thermometer. The heated calender is designed to ensure consistent heating across the entire width of the bed. The calender system monitors every phase of the heating process and makes adjustments to the temperature automatically. Other features of the HeatWave include HeatWave SBL2 disperse dye-sublimation inks, bulk-ink system with 1-liter reservoirs, resolutions up to 720 x 720 dpi, optional air-filtration system, and VersaWorks RIP software, featuring variable-data printing, spot-color matching with the Roland Color System, and more.
