Mark Thompson of Printdesigns Limited (www.printdesigns.com) in Staffordshire, England, has been named the winner of the FESPA Fabric 2014 t-shirt design competition.
The competition was designed as a pre-event marketing campaign to showcase the creativity that’s possible in garment decoration and textile print, and to encourage those in the industry to “dive deeper” and explore new design and production techniques.
The 2014 competition received 46 entries. Five of the entries were shortlisted and displayed at FESPA Digital 2014, May 20-23, in Munich, Germany, where visitors voted for their favorite design. Thompson received 522 votes from visitors at the exhibition, taking away the grand prize (approximately $350 US).
Other winners included: Noe Garcia (second place); Federica Micalizzi (third place); Simon Lomanto (fourth place); and Asya Ivanova (fifth place).
“I’m really impressed with the calibre of entries we’ve received this year,” says Lynda Sutton, FESPA marketing manager. “FESPA Digital and Fabric 2014 was all about diving deeper into the options that the garment industry can provide to budding designers and to highlight the endless opportunities within textile printing. This year’s winning t-shirt certainly demonstrated creativity and the possibilities available in garment decoration and textile print.”
