Yaşar Gűvenen has been inaugurated as the 16th president of FESPA (fespa.com), replacing Lascelle Barrow, who has retained the role since June 2013. The ceremony was held during the FESPA Awards Gala Dinner at FESPA 2015 in Cologne, Germany, on May 19.

The former president of ARED – FESPA’s Turkish member association – will now chair the FESPA Board and the general assembly of 37 member associations, working alongside VP Christian Duyckaerts, CEO Neil Felton, and Sean Holt, general secretary. According to a release, Gűvenen and Holt plan to reinvest funds for the Profit for Purpose program, which supports market growth and education among FESPA’s global community.

A FESPA board member since 2008 and European Sign Federation board member since 2010, Gűvenen speaks fondly of his firsthand experiences as part of the FESPA family. “[Personal relationships] are one of FESPA’s greatest strengths, giving FESPA its unique ability to think globally and act locally,” he says. “As president, I’m committed to nurturing and growing this community.”
