Fuchs Named 2017 William D. Schaeffer Environmental Award Recipient

Printing Industries of America is pleased to announce that George Fuchs has been awarded the prestigious William D. Schaeffer Environmental Award. The William D. Schaeffer Award is given annually to an individual who is advancing environmental awareness and action in the graphic communications industry. The award was presented Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Downtown Pittsburgh at during the Spring Administrative Meetings of Printing Industries of America.

 

Printing Industries of America is pleased to announce that George Fuchs has been awarded the prestigious William D. Schaeffer Environmental Award. The William D. Schaeffer Award is given annually to an individual who is advancing environmental awareness and action in the graphic communications industry. The award was presented Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Downtown Pittsburgh at during the Spring Administrative Meetings of Printing Industries of America.

 

Fuchs has been guiding the printing industry towards positive environmental change for over 30 years. He is currently the Director of Technology and Regulatory Affairs for the National Association of Printing Ink Manufacturers (NAPIM). Prior to this role, he spent 15 years as the Manager of Environmental Affairs for NAPIM. Through his efforts, he has led NAPIM to be proactive in regards to environmental conservation.

 

Fuchs is well known for his work with the Biorenewable Content (BRC) program, which allows ink manufacturers to calculate and specify the biorenewable content of their product on their packaging. His dedication to educating ink manufacturers and other graphic arts professionals about biorenewable content and environmental regulations has improved sales of sustainable materials and increased public awareness about the ink and printing industries’ dedication to sustainability.

 

“George has been an absolute stalwart for the continued movement of environmental concerns and regulations for the printing ink and graphic arts industries,” said Dan De Legge, Vice President of Research & Development for Inksolutions, LLC. “George has been an incredible source of information and guidance to anyone who asks for his assistance. He has been generous with his knowledge and has been a ‘point man’ for many of our industry concerns.”
