Fujifilm companies in Japan and the U.S. have joined together in support of the people of Haiti following the earthquake that struck on January 12. The companies provided $400,000 in financial assistance and medical products and equipment.

U.S.-based Fujifilm companies provided financial assistance to Hope for Haiti, a nonprofit group that has been based in Haiti for 20 years, providing educational and social services to families. Stamford, CT-based FUJIFILM Medical systems U.S.A. Inc., through a partnership with Stamford Hospital and AmeriCares, has donated a portable digital X-ray system to help clinicians set patients’ bones. Accompanying the equipment will be a Stamford Hospital X-ray technologist, who will train Haitian clinicians how to use the equipment.
Japanese-based Fujifilm companies provided financial assistance and X-ray film supplies through the Japan Platform Foundation, an international emergency humanitarian-aid organization founded to provide assistance for major disasters by coordinating the efforts of non-governmental organizations, the business community, and the government of Japan.
