Sophie Matthews-Paul, a veteran print technology and communications consultant, has passed away at the age of 68 at her home in Herefordshire, United Kingdom. Matthews-Paul was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer in January and “enjoyed a peaceful departure,” according to a release.
Sophie Matthews-Paul, a veteran print technology and communications consultant, has passed away at the age of 68 at her home in Herefordshire, United Kingdom. Matthews-Paul was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer in January and “enjoyed a peaceful departure,” according to a release.
Matthews-Paul began her career as a journalist and editor for a number of trade publications. She went on to launch Screen and Digital Printer in the 1990s and contributed to a number of other industry publications, including Screen Printing and Big Picture magazines. Over her three decades in the industry, Matthews-Paul became a renowned speaker and mentor to many. She served as an expert in the digitization of the industry and an influencer in the evolution of digital inkjet’s role within the wide-format, textile, and industrial print markets.
“Sophie’s extraordinary charm and intellect left an indelible mark on the lives, careers, and hearts of everyone she knew,” says her son, James Matthews-Paul, in a release.
