The InPrint industrial print show’s newest white paper “What is the Future of Industrial Print” explores the pace of and factors behind development in this rapidly growing market. Authored by Mark Hanley of IT Strategies and Marcus Timson of InPrint, the paper is based on survey results collected from 150 respondents around the world in January 2016. An overwhelming 85 percent of respondents predicted more than 5-percent growth for industrial print; 34 percent of the total imagined this growth would reach double digits.

The survey also posed the question of what must happen in the market in order for industrial print to develop most effectively. The top three responses were:

• More open collaboration between suppliers (72 percent);
• A greater knowledge of industrial printing from the entire supply chain (55 percent);
• And a greater awareness of industrial print (32 percent).

“Collaboration is really essential for industrial print,” the report warns. “A high level of secrecy coupled with an unwillingness to work together could slow development.

Respondents were also asked to share which industry segments they thought were exhibiting the most significant growth. Sixty percent pointed to packaging – where “print is clearly a key technique for distinguishing and enhancing a product from a sales perspective” – while 54 percent chose textiles (including dye sublimation, DTG, and home textiles), 48 percent mentioned interior décor, and 30 percent selected functional printing.

The third InPrint show is set for November 15-17 in Milan.
