Dave Cich, Jim Case, and Jim Peterson have announced their new venture, Vanguard Digital Printing Systems (Suwanee, Georgia). The three co-founders share a common past at manufacturer CET Color and have banded together to “build an adaptable, affordable, upgradeable printer” and provide a “hands-on management approach,” according to a release.

The three co-founders share a common past at manufacturer CET Color and have banded together to “build an adaptable, affordable, upgradeable printer” and provide a “hands-on management approach,” according to a release.
“Vanguard Digital Printing Systems is a continuation of what I have done in my career,” says Cich in the same release. “In 25 years I’ve learned that if you build a business focused on doing what is right for the customer above all else … success will follow for all involved. I cannot think of two other people as dedicated to this philosophy as Jim Peterson and Jim Case.”
The company’s inaugural product is the VR5D UV flatbed, utilizing CMYK + white ink and Ricoh Gen5 printheads. The machine features three proprietary technologies: BandGuard, employing a symmetrical printhead alignment to reduce bidirectional banding; CureGuard LED lights for adjustable curing; and StaticGuard control for PVC and acrylics that hold a charge. The VR5D accepts media up to 49 inches wide and up to 4 inches thick.
The company expects to launch three additional machines this year.
