LexJet, Sarasota, FL, held its 2008 Technology Review at the LexJet Technology Center in Sarasota. The one-day event, on Aug. 14, was designed to explore, explain, and demonstrate every technology available for wide-format printers and equip attendees with the information needed to make informed decisions about the appropriate technology for their particular market. Representatives from commercial printing companies, sign companies, service bureaus, photography studios, and in-house print shops from the beverage distributor market attended the event, as well as representatives from printing industry publications, including The Big Picture, which is published by ST Media Group Int’l, publisher of Screen Printing.

Attendees were able to meet the people developing the technology, learn more about the various printing processes and where they are headed in the next few years, view first-hand the different avenues in which the technology is used, and participate in hands-on demonstrations and training. Attendees also got a first look at Digital Equipment Company’s new Legend 98HUV hybrid UV-curable printer, which is scheduled for release in early 2009.

Educations sessions also were included in the event, and focused on consumables, printers, and software. Demonstrations from Digital Equipment Company, Hewlett-Packard, Canon, FLEXcon, Mutoh, Hahnemuhle, and OKI Printing Solutions took place, as well as presentations from industry expert Dr. Ray Work and LexJet technical support specialist Justin Sherry. A sunset dinner cruise on Sarasota Bay rounded out the event. LexJet says it has tentative plans to hold another Technology Review in early 2009.
