MacDermid Autotype, a European manufacturer of specialized coated films and chemicals, has won the British Safety Council International Safety Award for the forth year running, and a record 11th time in total. The award recognizes the company’s safety record in 2007, and in particular what the company describes as an extremely low accident incident rate.

“We had build still further on what we’d achieved in previous years,” says David Curtis, chairman of MacDermid Autotype’s Health, Safety, and Environmental Protection Policy Group. “Safety issues are constantly changing, as the needs of our business and customers around the world evolve, so we’ve had both to implement new procedures and strengthen existing measures.”

These measures have included a comprehensive policy statement and safety plan covering all site activities, safety responsibilities that are recognized at board level, clear verification that staff are competent in specific procedures, and detailed risk assessments and safety training plans.
