Stow, OH-based MACtac, a supplier of pressure-sensitive materials, recently joined forces with Portraits of Hope to wrap as many as 13,000 New York City taxi cabs with MACtac IMAGin B-Free vinyl, which will be painted by children across the country. The program, Garden in Transit, is designed to help children overcome difficult circumstances and build self-esteem through public artistic expression.

According to MACtac, the only requirement for the children and the team is to dream big. In this case, that means covering thousands of taxi cabs with personalized portraits individually hand painted and signed by the children who created the art.

“Portraits of Hope brings families and communities together to help children in need,” says Tara Foote, MACtac’s corporate marketing manager. “We are very proud to be a part of this very important mission to provide hope to children across the country.”  MACtac says Portraits of Hope selected IMAGin B-Free digital vinyl because of its unique print quality, image pop, and air-egress adhesive system, which is designed to proviude bubble-free applications and repositioning. MACtac has provided Portraits of Hope and the New York City Taxi Authority with application support and will provide guidance during the removal process at the completion of the project.

Portraits of Hope also coincides with the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the New York City taxi cab. “It is truly a unique opportunity to participate in such a large-scale graphics application involving an American icon,” Foote says. “It will be a very special time for the city and children who make it all happen.”
