Print-and-Plate Inkjet Platform

Xennia and Conductive Inkjet Technology (CIT) Ltd. partnered to launch a range of MetalJet XY print-and-plate platforms. The solution uses CIT’s patented UV inkjet technology for writing circuitry and interconnecting in various printed-electronics applications, such as RFID, flex circuit, photovoltaics, and displays. The developers say the solution offers process simplification, flexibility, material efficiency, and improved yield. The MetalJet range makes CIT technology available as part of an integrated package of printer, UV lamp, and plating station. The MetalJet is available in three versions. The MetalJet 2000 CIT laboratory kit is designed for basic research and technology evaluation. It includes a modified Dimatix materials printer with integrated UV lamp, disposable Dimatix inkjet cartridge, and desktop plating station. The MetalJet 4000 is described as a robust and versatile industrial package for CIT evaluation and product development. The solution is based on the XenJet 4000 material deposition platform, with Xaar or Spectra industrial printhead, integrated UV lamp, and choice of plating station. The MetalJet 5000 can be supplied with a fully configurable printer based on a granite-based motion system available in sizes up to 47 x 63 in. (1194 x 1600 mm), either as a standalone cell or integrated into a production line. Xennia Technology Inc., 329 E. Ramsey, San Antonio, TX 78216, 210-655-6667, fax: 210-655-6668, Web: www.xennia.com.
