More than 100 members of the printing and education communities in Wisconsin attended the dedication ceremony for the Pewaukee-based Harry V. Quadracci Printing Education and Technology Center. The new facility, located on the campus of the Waukesha County Technical College, represents a partnership between the state’s printing industry and technical-college system.

Fifteen offices, three lecture halls, two computer-graphics classrooms, a digital-photography studio, a color-measurement lab, a bookstore, and a 4000-sq-ft demo center occupy the 23,600-sq-ft facility. The Center was built at a cost of $3.5 million.

“There’s always a lot of talk about the need to collaborate in today’s business environment,” says Dr. Barbara Prindiville, president of the Waukesha County Technical College, “but there are few industries that have demonstrated true collaboration as consistently as the printing sector in our region.”

On hand to receive engraved plaques were members of the Quadracci family, on behalf of Quad/Graphics, as well as representatives from Mueller Graphic Supply, Kodak, Siemens Energy and Automation, and the Edmund and Anne Modjeski Fund. Additionally, Hal Hinderliter, executive director of the Institute of Graphics and Imaging, presented gifts to recognize the efforts of Tim Burton, president of commercial printing company Burton and Mayer Inc., and Niall Power, president and CEO of the Printing Industries of Wisconsin. The day’s events also included a ribbon cutting, tours of the facility, and a luncheon.
