Richard Greaves | Industry Consultant
Richard Greaves has helped improve screen printing through hundreds of onsite visits, articles, and seminars all over the world.
Richard started screen printing in 1979 at Eder Manufacturing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where they sewed and printed custom flags and printed T-shirts for the ad-specialty industry. Then, he worked in a North Carolina shirt factory printing on shirts before they were sewn, then started another sewing and printing shop near Philadelphia with Jeffrey Gitomer specializing in four-color process printing. In 1984, he met Don Newman and eventually worked at Stretch Devices as a general manager.
Richard wrote a monthly column in Screen Printing magazine called “Greaves on Garments” for nine years and was the technical editor for Printwear magazine for five years. He has the most complete collection of screen printing magazines known and has been a member of the Academy of Screen and Digital Printing Technology since 2000.
After traveling all over the world as a consultant, he settled down and worked at Lawson Screen Products as supply director, then moved to New York to work at Ulano as technical product manager. After a stroke in 2009, he’s still consulting on screen printing problems and loves answering questions.
