Tampoprint recently expanded its Rotoprint rotary pad-printing machine for bottle caps and closures. The press is now a three-lane system, and Tampoprint says the upgrade facilitates output of 150,000-180,000 pieces/hr, printed with up to three colors, and with a part diameter up to 1.25 in. (32 mm). Parts with diameters of up to 1.9 in. (50 mm) can be printed at speeds up to 120,000 pieces/hr in up to three colors. The machine uses one 4 x 6-in. (100 x 150-mm) cliche cylinder per printing unit. Built-in flame pretreatment increases surface energy and promotes ink adhesion, and final drying is executed by flame or hot air.
