Screen Frames and Screenmaking Service

Alloy America, a manufacturer of extruded-aluminum products, now offers aluminum screen frames and a screenmaking service to complement its growing lines of screen-printing equipment. The frames are robotically welded and feature a roughened surface that Alloy America says is perfect for mesh adhesion, as well as slight radius edges designed for easy handling. The company pneumatically tensions screens from all four sides, relaxing and tensioning several times throughout the process to stabilize the threads. Alloy America uses monofilament mesh fabric and says customers can specify virtually any mesh count in when working with the company’s screenmaking service. Aluminum frames for commercial use have a profile of 1.5 x 1.56 in. (38.1 x 39.7 mm), while those for and art- and craft-related applications have a profile of 1 x 1 in. (25.4 x 25.4 mm). Wooden frames also are available in a variety of sizes. Alloy America Screen Printing Frames and Accessories, 820 Rt. 910, Cheswick, PA 15024, 412-828-8270, fax: 412-828-8297, Web: www.aaframes.com.
