SGIA Launches Sustainability Event at Global Shop

SGIA, Fairfax, VA, in an outreach effort to the retail customer base for specialty imagers, will host a sustainability event on Mar. 19, during Global Shop, which takes place at the McCormick Place West in Chicago, IL. The event, held in conjunction with SGIA member Ivey (Seattle, WA), will feature keynote speaker Terry Kelly, Nike Inc.'s director of content and creative management.

SGIA says Kelly will discuss Nike's successful in-store sustainability initiatives, which includes the formation of the Nike Green Council. Carolyn Burns, global marketing manager for DuPont Graphics, will discuss new product developments for DuPont Tyvek print media driven by Nike's in-store sustainability plans, namely one to replace polyvinyl chloride (PVC) banner substrate. Representatives from Pitman Co. and BEC will talk about their sustainability journeys that have come from Nike's in-store greening of the supply chain.

The event also will highlight the newly formed Sustainable Green Printing (SGP) Partnership, which will launch Mar. 11 at the National Environmental Health and Safety conference in Indianapolis, IN. For more information about the sustainability event, visit www.sgia.org and www.sgppartnership.org for more information on the SGP Partnership.
