SGIA Recognizes 30 Member Companies’ Sustainable Initiatives

In observance of Earth Day, the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) proudly honors the 30 member companies receiving its 2019 Sustainable Business Recognition Award. The annual program recognizes companies’ initiatives in the previous year that reduced their environmental footprints and/or improved business efficiency and employee safety and health.

To meet these goals, the Sustainable Business Recognition Award program encourages SGIA member companies to integrate practices including recycling, joining the SmartWay program for efficient shipping and transportation, and initiating employee wellness programs.

“The Sustainable Business Recognition program puts the spotlight on companies who have demonstrated a commitment to sustainable practices. Sustainability is not just about the environment — it’s also about employees’ well-being and creating efficiencies that can improve a business’s bottom line,” said Marci Kinter, Vice President, Government and Business Information, SGIA. “With each year, we continue to see innovative ideas for energy and waste reduction and safety awareness, and 2019 was no exception.”

“Green business is Global’s ideal. We know that manufacturers can have a disproportionate effect on local ecology — therefore, our philosophy is the pursuit of constant mindful improvement,” said Jan Weyrich, Director of Operations, Global Products Inc., a 2019 award recipient. “Every year we strive to refine our processes by focusing on one target area of our business and examining it from every angle, tracking both our efficiency and sustainability, and coming up with new ways to excel and reduce our impact on the environment.”
