KDM P.O.P. Solutions Group out of Cincinnati, OH recently finished up a kiosk project for a Midwest restaurant chain with 76 different locations spread through three states. The client had a kiosk project that they wanted to upgrade. It was a merchandising unit for displaying their famous smiley cookies to be placed in the entry area of the client’s restaurants. The kiosk has a header panel that can be changed, depending on the theme, for either seasonal holidays or team sporting events.

The client had designed the kiosk to be made out of a PVC plastic. KDM Retail Solutions Division got involved with the project and proposed a custom wood design with graphic panels mounted on the surface. Last May, KDM presented the prototype for review and, after a few adjustments, it met the customer’s needs.

The client placed their first order in June for 26 units with a mix of three shelf units and two shelf units. Each unit has a graphic header that changes out monthly. The restaurant customer said that the newly printed kiosks are a definite upgrade and a much better product than what they expected. They were overjoyed with the results. Here are some of the specifics that were connected to the project and an invitation for all printers to share their successes in our upcoming blogs.

Specifics
Graphics were produced at KDM P.O.P. Solutions Group’s Cincinnati print production facility. They used the UV durable inks on a Vutek QS2000 UV flatbed six-color printing press. The permanent graphics were printed directly onto 0.15 styrene, and then laminated directly to the fabricated display. Finally they were hand routed to fit the curves exactly.

The changeable graphic panels are printed directly on to the styrene and attached to the display with two channel grip strips. The custom fabricated display was designed and produced at KDM’s Cincinnati Retail facility. The unit includes melamine side panels that the permanent graphics were mounted to and the rest is solid maple. The shelving has a clear PETG plastic that sits on top of the wood. Bumpers aid with the foot traffic wear and tear and casters on the bottom make for easy mobility. There is even a cabinet to store the changeable graphic panels.
