Solvent Inkjet Ink

Mimaki recently debuted Eco-HS1, an ink formulated without cyclohexanone and other toxic ingredients. “Our new high solvent has both the feathers of a high solvent and eco-solvent ink, which dramatically reduces odor, toxins, and media shrinkage. Now customers … don’t have to sacrifice print speed and durability due to environmental restrictions. Eco-HS1 ink represents a new generation of environmentally friendly, high-solvent ink,” says Isao Tabayashi, manager of Mimaki Engineering’s ink and media div. The ink set features a newly added light black ink, designed to provide smoother gradations and a more glossy finish. Mimaki reports that Eco-HS1 ink is suitable for fleet graphics using thin, self-adhesive PVC and where prints are exposed to mechanical stress or abrasion. The company also notes that residual solvents improve permeability of the ink on the media, thereby shortening job-turnaround time. Mimaki USA, Inc., 150 Satellite Blvd., Ste.
