”It’s about finding the most original, complex, elaborate or stunning object that you ever printed on your swissQprint machine”, were the words in the call from the Swiss printer manufacturer to its international customer base. With this competition, swissQprint sought to promote the exchange of ideas among users and distinguish the most creative.

The winners
From numerous submissions and a resulting shortlist of 25, these ones made it to the top: 1st prize: «Reception Bikes», a hotel sign, submitted by Schilder Systeme GmbH of Oberndorf, Austria. 2nd prize: «Das Ziel», Teil einer Kunstausstellung by Thomas Koch, Hamburg, submitted by Alpha Sign AG of Hünenberg, Switzerland. 3rd prize: «Strellson X-Mas», a shop window display, submitted by movingposter.ch GmbH of Cham, Switzerland. 4th prize: «Membrane», a piece of art, submitted by Laumont Photographics of Long Island City, USA. 5th prize: «Speedo», a shop fitting concept, submitted by Digital Graphix of Castle Hill, Australia. Two representatives of the winning company, Schilder Systeme GmbH, will soon be taking a trip to Switzerland. Second to fifth places will be rewarded with generous prizes.

Variety
Project manager Adriano Gut reports: “The variety of applications was enormous.” Indeed, the scope included parts of film sets, trade fair booth and shop furnishing elements, counter-top displays, art objects, demonstration placards, direct mailing items, product stickers with built-in NFC chips, shop window displays, packaging, advertising media with 3D effects, trophies, goods labels, fine art reproductions, interior decorations, guideposts and signs. Their manufacturers came from all over the world: Australia through Asia, Europe and America. “Some items had a correspondingly distinct local flavour, which was fascinating”, says Gut with pleasure, adding: “The number of different substrates confirms and illustrates the versatility of our large format printers.”

Assessment
An eight-member jury assessed the submitted objects against several printing and marketing-related technical criteria. The entire swissQprint workforce independently picked their favourites. The Facebook community meanwhile participated in an online poll. Their combined scores went into the final ranking.
