Wide-Format Inkjet Printer

Mutoh America developed its new ValueJet 1618 to offer versatility and deliver high performance at a low cost. The dual-headed, 64-in. (1626-mm), roll-to-roll inkjet printer uses Muto’s Eco-Ultra Ink and can image onto coated and uncoated media up to 63.97 in. wide (1625 mm) at resolutions up to 1440 dpi and speeds up to 334 sq ft/hr (31 sq m/hr). The ValueJet 1618 features Mutoh’s drop-on-demand Piezo Drive Method and Intelligent Interweaving print technology (i2), through which ink is laid down in wave forms. Mutoh says this technique allows for increased print speeds and virtually eliminates banding and ink mottle while increasing dot gain control. Eco-Ultra Ink is available in 1000-ml ink packs, and a starter kit (2 x CMYK) comes with the printer. The ValueJet 1618’s media-drying system includes individually controlled pre, platen, and post heaters.
