Workflow and Proofing Software

EFI recently launched version 4.0 of its Colorproof XF and Fiery XF solutions for color proofing and production printing, respectively. Technological features include Dynamic Wedge and Intelligent Calibration. Dynamic Wedge checks and initiates optimization of key colors, including spot colors, based on a dynamically created wedge. The software considers the job's key colors and all spot colors relevant to analysis. Dynamic Wedge uses what EFI calls an advanced algorithms to analyse these colors and ensure the highest accuracy of output devices onsite and at remote locations. According to EFI, printing systems with embedded spectrophotometers will also benefit from the Dynamic Wedge, as it fully automates verification and optimization for labor-saving color-quality assurance. Intelligent calibration includes a re-linearization and ink-limiting feature, designed to check the calibration of output devices and automatically bring it back to its original state when parameters change. EFI says the feature provides a fast and accurate method of ensuring calibration accuracy. EFI, Inc., 303 Velocity Way, Foster City, CA 94404, 650-357-3500, fax: 650-357-3907, Web: www.efi.com.
